We are currently looking for hospitality-minded Service Bartenders to add to our team. Experience in catering/private events is a plus. Great opportunities for learning and growth as we promote from within our restaurant. The service bar is not a customer-facing bar, but one that is in the service area of the kitchen. This position is responsible for fulfilling orders rung in by the servers and running drinks as time permits. Service Bartenders are also responsible for making batches of cocktails, stocking bar, and assisting team with polishing glasses, among other duties. We are seeking energetic candidates that possess a strong sense of teamwork, are passionate about creating the ultimate guest experience, and genuinely enjoy the service industry. Located in Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Yellow Magnolia Café is a modern American restaurant focused on locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. The café menu offers brunch and all-day dining options centered around vegetable-centric small plates, heartier main dishes, plant-inspired desserts, and a seasonally focused beverage program. Yellow Magnolia Café at Brooklyn Botanic Garden is operated by Restaurant Associates (a part of Compass Group). Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of one year working at an upscalebar or restaurant Experience with food production for large catering or banquet functions ServSafe Certified Passion for food and cooking techniques Strong leadership qualities Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests. Sets up assigned bars; requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce. Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality. Greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner. Takes and/or processes orders for drinks; mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes; practices prudent portion control. Checks guests at the bar for proper identification. Detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained. Demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws. Receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges, records charges and ensures vouchers are properly executed. Locks up and stores all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops; secures bank. Performs general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards; keeps work area clean and organized. Arranges bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area. Washes and sterilizes stemware. Performs other duties as assigned.
